I f*cked up...
Avoid this mistake
The past few weeks, I’ve been going hard with my cold outreach strategy (Twitter DM messages).
For those who don’t know what outreach is, I’m asking strangers to give me money in exchange for my service (ghostwriting).
You can message anyone on the internet and there’s a slight possibility they’ll give you thousands of dollars in exchange for the value you provide them.
There’s also a chance you don’t get any responses.
Anyway, I think it was last Thursday.
I looked down at my phone and could not believe what I saw.
Anxious bursts of adrenaline rushed through my body.
My face (now red) was dripping with sweat.
I was embarrassed as shit.
How could I let this happen?
I take pride in not making stupid little mistakes like this.
If you're trying to start a business, learn a skill, ask a girl out on a date, etc, etc...
You should put 100% effort into everything.
Strive to make 0 errors.
Dot the eyes and cross the tees.
But at that moment, I was just a normal college kid running a sub-par operation.
My mind immediately fixated on things I was using to give me short-term pleasure:
1) Going out on weekends
2) Not waking up when the alarm goes off
3) Eating like shit
And to be honest, it made me really mad.
I know yes…
These have nothing to do with my mistake.
But little details are the difference between signing $10,000 for clients and getting the door slammed in your face.
Anyway…
I had a grammatical error in my Twitter thread hook, that 45,000 people saw.
I needed to remind myself to dot the eyes and cross the tees.
There was nothing I could do to change what had already happened.
I needed to channel my focus to the things only I could control to get over it.
Recap:
1) Control the controllables
2) Have a short memory
3) Pay specific attention to minor details
Hope this helps accomplish whatever pursuits life throws your way.
Deuces,
Tyler
