Triangle peg in a square hole
Think like a genie
Creating short-form content isn’t hard.
The reality for most people who write Twitter content, blogs, or emails, is that they have 0 structure.
It’s like running around the grocery store without a plan…
You might get the ingredients for a few meals… but you’ll end up forgetting something.
If you had just written out what you needed for 1 week of meals.
Maybe you ran out of mustard…
Maybe you need to pick up that secret ingredient for the recipe you’ve been working on…
Maybe you want to load up on chocolate chip cookies for the UFC fight on Saturday…
Without a list, you’re missing out on little ideas that make your grocery cart packed with delicious foods for specific occasions.
“Tyler, how does this apply to my content?”
If you’re the type of person who walks around the grocery store without a list, your thought process to find food is called convergent thinking.
All actions lead to 1 answer. And as a creative, you want to avoid this.
Writers need come up with multiple solutions for 1 desired outcome.
If you’re not creative, don’t worry, anyone can get better at this with practice.
Go to your notes and list out as many use for a “brick” you can possibly think of…
(Que Jeopardy music)
Maybe you thought of things like building a house, a table, or door stopper.
But you probably didn’t consider any of these…
How big is the brick? What color is the brick? What is the brick made of?
It could be 50 pounds and used as a weight-training tool.
It could be a small brick used in a children's Lego set.
It could be used to break a window.
The possibilities are endless.
You can come up with 60-100 really good ideas in a singular 90-minute time block.
If you have any questions about how to create your content system…
